The book provides a detailed history of all Winchester rifles and shotguns, including models from 1866 onward. It covers the company’s founder, Oliver Winchester, the designers he hired, and the role their firearms played in history, such as the famous Model 1873 repeating rifle known as “the gun that won the West”. The volume is noted for its more than 150 full-color photographs of the firearms themselves, gun-making artifacts, designers’ drawings, and historical photos of the rifles being used by individuals on both sides of the law.
The book is in good vintage condition. Binding is tight and pages are clean. The book is signed by the author. Previous owner’s name in ink on end page.
