Antique (1849) Signed Dual-Block Emanuel Meily Jacquard Coverlet.
Extraordinary, documented piece of early American folk textile history. Coverlet was masterfully produced by Emanuel Meily. Emanuel Meily (1802-1869) was a prominent, highly celebrated professional carpet and coverlet weaver based in Lebanon Borough, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
The Fringe is missing at the top of the coverlet and some on sides (approximately 50% overall). Some thinning present when held up to light, not notieceable when laying flat. Dual block signatures on bottom. Wool. Made for J. Moyer.
Measurements : 92” x 82” not including fringe.
