Antique (1850s) American Jacquard Woven Coverlet - Dual Block : Lima, Ohio.
Historic Textile. 19th Century. Main field pattern is the classic "Four Lillies and Stars" - also frequently referred to as the Leaf Medallion or Oak Leaf variation medallion design. Authentic single-cloth Jacquard weave. Indigo-dyed wool pattern threads are tied down structurally into the natural cream cotton ground warp and weft, giving it a beautifully textured, flat surface with crisp lines.
Victorian Era Coverlet. Some Loss Present. Some areas of the edges are rough. Discoloration Throughout. Center Seam. Found in as-is condition. Originally From Ohio. Structurally Sound. Running vertically down the exact middle of the frame is a distinct, hand-stitched center seam. Dual Blocks Read : Lima, Ohio. Woven on a narrower, traditional hand-operated Jacquard loom. Weaver then cut the long panel in half and meticulously hand-sewed the two pieces together to form a full-width bed blanket, carefully aligning the complex pattern.
