Traditional early-American bed covering dating back to the 19th century. This Iconic geometric motif is a variation of the classic “Lover’s Knot” design (Whig Rose // Snowball). Features repeating circular medallion frames intersecting with starburst or floral centers.
There is staining + discoloration present. Some tears and rips present. Portion of the center seam has come unstitched. See photographs. Overall, age-appropriate wear for a textile this age that has been utilized. Reinforced top and bottom edges - this was done so that when the person was laying in bed and pulling the blanket up, it would not loosen the threading or stretch it out during use. Coverlet is intact + in usable condition. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania.
