These decorative bedspreads were popular during the mid-to-late 1800s, especially within Pennsylvania Dutch and Midwestern weaving communities. Woven using a Jacquard loom attachment, which allowed weavers to create intricate, curved, and highly detailed pictorial elements rather than simple geometric blocks.

Reversible. Beige side shows more wear. Antique coverlet in good condition. Age appropriate loss + thinning throughout. Edges have some tearing + fraying. Acquired in Pennsylvania. Features a classic radial star and floral medallion central motif surrounded by geometric fields, bordered by acanthus leaves and lush floral scrollwork.
