During the 19th and early 20th centuries, local general store owners, grocers, and distributors commissioned pottery manufacturers to stencil or stamp their names and locations onto stoneware jars and crocks. This piece exhibits a classic light-grey to tan salt-glazed exterior featuring prominent crazing - fine surface hairline cracks in the glaze - and minor rim wear typical of authentic antique utilitarian pottery.

Significant Crazing. Some Surface Chips. No Cracks. Acquired in as-is condition in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
