Antique (1890s) Perfection Third Folding Buggy Seat.
Notable 19th-century accessory manufactured by The J.B. Foote Foundry Co. of Frederick town, Ohio. These seats were specifically designed as auxiliary seating for horse-drawn buggies or carriages, often intended to accommodate a third person, such as a child, when the main bench was full. Composed of decorative cast iron side supports featuring scroll-work and a star motif at the central pivot point. Features an “X-Frame” folding design, allowing it to be collapsed for easy storage when not in use in the carriage.
There is distress to the wood and cast iron frame. Two cracks in the wood frame present on the same bar as shown in photographs. Structurally sound. Folds.
