White, an American publisher and poet, was known for founding his own publishing company, James T. White Co., in 1869. The original edition of Captive Memories was published in 1897 and contains commemorative verses dedicated to “unacknowledged anniversaries”. White writes that his verses were created to commemorate anniversary days that every heart keeps in a “secret chamber”.
The Victorian poetry book is in good antique condition. Normal discoloration for age and a white cover. Gilt detailing on the cover and all page edges gilded. The binding is tight and the pages are clean.
