Wood Burning. Highly popular decorative craft dating from the late 19th century to the early 1900s. Central circular medallion frames a detailed illustration of three horses with flowing manes, a classic motif of the Art Nouveau and Victorian Folk Art periods also known as Pharoah’s Horses.
Box is signed on the back : Agens C Cox December 23rd, 1906 likely made as a Christmas gift that yeare. Highly detailed with thousands of tiny dots throughout. Pharoah’s Hores on the top. Vines design the front and sides. No key - box opens without one. There is a crack at the bottom that does not affect the stability of the box. In good working condition. Painted metallic silver inside. Dovetaili Edges. Age appropriate distress + discoloration.
