Aligns stylistically with the Luminist or late Romantic maritime traditions popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Sailing Vessels. Distinct vessel on the horizon is a wo-masted gaff-rigged sailboat, a type of working boat or fishing schooner heavily utilized along North American and European coastlines during the 1800s.
Two areas of loss to canvas. Age appropriate distress + discoloration. Structurally Sound. Anonymous Artist. Antique Seascape. Texture shows a tight, traditional weave characteristic of late 19th or early 20th century artist canvases. Flock of seagulls is painted in classic, minimalist "V" formations. Paint surface shows a faint craquelure and surface aging, which supports its antique status.
