Featuring a cobalt blue stamped maker’s mark. Blue number 3 inside the stamp indicates that this is a 3-gallon capacity vessel. Distinctive diamond-shaped or square blueprint stamp enclosing the capacity number is typical of early 20th-century Midwestern potteries. This Crock was manufactured between the 1910s and 1930s. Company heavily produced these utilitarian salt-glazed pieces for home pickling and fermentation.
Significant Crazing. Surface Chips + Cracks throughout. None of the cracks go through to the interior. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. These types of stamped, salt-glazed utility crocks were heavily manufactured in the United States between the 1910s and 1930s for household food preservation, such as pickling or salting meats. Minor structural chips and localized surface crazing.
