Toys of this design feature a kinetic mechanism made from wood and metal pivots. Pressing the small wooden peg in the middle triggers the mechanics. Action forces both carved boxers to lean in toward each other. Many versions of this classic design were popularized in the late 19th century through the 1930s. Patented design featuring two fighters on a rectangular wood block controlled by a center button was popularized in the late 19th century.
