Antique (Late 1800s) Marietta Hollowware & Enameling Co. Cast Iron Pot.

$50.00

Antique (Late 1800s) Marietta Hollowware & Enameling Co. Cast Iron Pot.

“Marietta PA” marking on top rim. “Gate Mark” on the bottom. Likely manufactured in the late 1800s. The Marietta Hollowware & Enameling Co was established in 1876 in Marietta, Pennsylvania. The 3 - ½ on the bottom indicates its capacity is 3.5 quarts. The “Marietta PA” inscription on the top rim is a Hallmark of this company’s products. The raised linen (gate Mark) on the bottom is a remnant from the old casting process where molten iron was poured into a sand mold from the bottom. This confirms it was produced before 1900, as most foundries moved the pouring point to the side after that time.

Significant Patina. Distress and discoloration present. Rust present. Display Only.

Measurements :
Opening : 5.25”
Height : 5”
