Vintage (1927) Dated Water Lily Signature Quilt.
Beautifully Preserved. Hand Embroidered. Friendship Quilt. Early 20th-Century. Meticulous stems, padded leaves, and layered petals of the central water lily, along with the distinct handling of the cursive signatures. Embroidery. Likely right before or at the beginning of the Great Depression. Back of the quilt exceptionally clean. Dense hand-quilting design. Intricate, stylized floral // feathered medallions centered at the intersections of the sashing, flanked by tight, parallel straight-line accent quilting across the grid panels.
Some areas of staining + discoloration. No rips or tears. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition. Originally From Kansas. Motifs are rendered in classic outline and satin stitching using vibrant pink, green, and black mercerized cotton embroidery floss. Back features a solid, whole-cloth white cotton backing. Uniformity of the fabric across such a large surface indicates a commercially produced backing muslin typical of high-quality presentation pieces from the era.
