Vintage (1928) Signed + Dated Redwork Embroidery Sampler Quilt : LKR.
Beautiful Example. Classic. Charming folk art illustrations stitched exclusively in colorfast red thread - historically known as Turkey Red Dye. Clean 3 x 4 layout featuring 12 unique pictorial blocks outlined by delicate stitched grid lines. Authentic, well-preserved redwork quilt. Thematic layout and remains structurally intact without heavy staining. "HE LUFS ME NOT" rather than the standard modern spelling, folk art charm.
Some loss present. Photographing with a bluish tint but the quilt is white and threadwork is red. Edges show distress in some areas. Staining present on back. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Owl perched beneath full moon. "Good Morning" surrounded by birds and florals. Other blocks display intricate combinations of butterflies, floral wreaths, baskets, and animals. My favorite are the cats - especially the middle on with the wonky eyes.
Measurements : 95" x 76"
