Vintage (1930s) Classic Hummingbird Pattern Quilt.
Also historically referred to as Periwinkle or Kites. Interlocking, geometric layout where four diamond-shaped "wings" radiating froma tiny central square create a stylized shape resembling a hummingbird in flight. Intricate, colorful field is framed by solid white inner accent bands and a wide, prominent cornflower blue or periwinkle outer border. Detailed geometry and construction of the blocks.
Loss Throughout. Staining + discoloration throughout. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition. Originally From Arizona. Traditional scrappy quilt, combining dozens of diverse 1930s pastel floral and geometric prints against a white background. Each main unit consists of a small printed square at the center, surrounded by four solid medium-blue triangles. Blue framing creates the striking secondary geometric grid that makes the "hummingbird" shapes or "kites" pop against the white background.
