Vintage (1930s) Handmade Quilt - Flower Basket Applique.
Classic. Arranged in a striking medallion layout. Four large, stylized baskets face inward toward he center, each featuring a layered pastel pink flower with a yellow center complete with delicate blue bows or ribbon accents on the handles. Framing border incorporates a wavy quilted zig-zag or chevron pattern that complements the geometric lines of the applique baskets perfectly. Hand-quilting and applique.
Depression Era Quilt. Staining + discoloration throughout. No rips or tears. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Solid pastel palette - orchid purple, soft pink, and sky blue - the crisp white cotton ground, and the precise, densely stitched background quilting lines - are highly characteristic of Depression-era textiles from the 1930s. Beautiful, visible blanket // buttonhole stitch in contrasting green/teal thread outlines the blue leaves and flower components, securing the pieces to the white background.
