Vintage (1930s) Traditional Applique Basket Quilt.
Design features a 5x5 grid of distinct basket motifs inside a multi-layered pink and cream border, set against a beautifully detailed background of cable or feather-style machine quilting. Each block uses a unique combination of solid and floral calico fabrics for the main basket body. Structural border defines the edges, prevents fraying, and adds a decorative, homespun outline. Blocks feature iconic mid-century calico and novelty prints, including a classic orange/blue floral pattern, a unique pink print, and textured woven stripes/plaids.
Depression Era Quilt. Staining throughout. No rips or tears. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Beautiful craftsmanship details. Applique Stitching. Each basket shape is secured to the background fabric using a contrasting, hand-worked blanket stitch. Background Quilting. Cream background is heavily textured with a grid or cross-hatch quilting pattern, which provides structural durability and makes the smooth fabric of the baskets visually pop.
