Vintage (1950s) American Folk Art Memory Jug.
Unique Vessel. Memory Ware. Forget-Me-Not Jar. Packed with mid-20th-century plastic, Bakelite, and celluloid charms, pointing to a creation date around the 1950s or 1960s. Celluloid + Early Plastic Charms. Novelty shapes common in mid-century dime stores, such as the small red purse, a light green duck, a butterfly, etc. Game Pieces. Small brown six-sided die with white pips in embedded near the upper left, which was a very common household item to throw into the mix.
Good Vintage Condition. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Created by Miss Alice Petersheim of Morgantown, Pennsylvania. Bakelite + Carved Buttons. Large cream-colored button near the top with a distinct border and the deeply textured red and turquoise buttons are classic mid-century garment closures. Seashells. Multiple small scallop and auger shells are nested tightly into the putty alongside the plastic items.
