Historic. School has a long history in the Chester community, serving various grade levels over nearly a century. Construction began in 1935 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression, and the building officially opened in 1937. School’s teams were known as the Wildcats. While the building transitioned from a K-12 school to a Junior-Senior High School (grades 7-12) in 1974, its identify remained deeply tied to the Wildcats mascot. Last class graduated from the Maple Avenue building in 2003, after which it was used by BOCES until 2019.
