Vintage (1960s) Persian Hamadan Tribal Rug.
Specifically resembling styles from the Tuy Serkan or Shiraz weaving regions. Prominent central, stepped diamond medallion outlined in gray/blue, set against a rich crimson or brick-red field. Field is filled with small, angular geometric tribal motifs and abstract floral elements characteristic of nomadic weavers. Hand-knotted from hand-spun wool, showing natural variations in color -abrash - and a heavily aged, low pile texture with worn fringes at the ends.
Loss and thinning to edges. Top and bottom edges are rough and show loss to fringe. Age appropriate distress + discoloration. Cloth tag on the back indicating the rug was Made In Iran. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Incorporates multiple geometric borders, including a prominent main border containing alternating geometric or stylized vine patterns on a dark indigo or cream ground.
