Vintage (1970s) Handmade Utility Quilt - Trip Around The World.
Patchwork quilt featuring a checkerboard grid pattern. Machine Stitched. Small yarn tufts knotted at the center of each block. Utilizes a simple square patchwork layout, arranged in a diagonal gradient configuration reminiscent of a traditional “Trip Around The World” Pattern. Crafted using mid-century fabrics. Fabric pieces show distinctive textures - textured ribbed knits, smooth woven synthetic blends, and marled weaves - which heavily indicates this is a mid-century utility quilt made from 1970s polyester double-knit scrap clothing fabrics.
One stain. No Tears. Some pills throughout. Found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Individual hand-tied yarn knots centered in each square. Maker clipped these yarn ties short, leaving small, functional tufts that anchor the top layer to the internal batting and backing fabric. Blocks are machine-pieced with standard straight seams, a classic approach for fast, durable utility comforters intended for heavy daily use.
