Vintage (1972) U.S. Military Issue Flyers Kit Bag - A-3 Flight Bag.
Designed primarily for U.S. Air Force and Army Aviators to transport flight helmets, gear, and clothing, it is a classic piece of heavy-duty military surplus. Heavyweight cotton duck canvas in faded Olive Drab // Sage Green. Features wrap-around cotton webbing carry handles for heavy loads and a top zipper covered by a snap-down storm flap. 03 stencil on both sides is a unit, rack, or individual gear tracking number, rather than a factory manufacturing mark.
Vietnam Era Bag. Good Vintage Condition. Age appropriate wear. Distress + discoloration present. 3 written in ink on top both sides near zipper. Structurally Sound. Found in as-is condition. Operational Tracking. Military squadrons, flight crews, and training units routinely stenciled large two-digit numbers onto the ends of kit bags to quickly identify gear on cargo pallets, aircraft, or storage racks. Heavy brass zipper confirms older vintage issue.
