The First National Bank of Tamaqua was built in 1905 and later merged with the Miners National Bank of Pottsville in 1960 as a branch after the merger. The Miners National Bank of Pottsville was chartered in November 1864, and its main office was known for its elaborate brass doors depicting coal miners.
